      • If the watchdog timer isn't periodically reset then it will automatically reset your ESP8266. The watchdog is reset every time loop() runs or you call delay() or yield() but if you have blocking code like the above then the watchdog may time out, resulting in your reset. So to fix this you can change the above code to:
      • Jan 21, 2017 · Following reset my understanding is that the ESP8266 comes up in station mode and looks for the last access point to which was attached. If it cannot find that it comes up as an access point. In the the discussion below I would call these “under the hood” WiFi operations.

      • Power supplies aren't magic they're dynamical systems and a fast change in current can cause the voltage to change quickly. A supply capacitor near the ESP8266 can help smooth out the current demanded by the ESP8266 when starting wifi. – user1816847 Feb 15 '18 at 21:19
      • But ESP8266 does have short but huge current spikes, so I'll add a 1000 microFarads capacitor on VCC just because I don't like to see VCC dips of hundreds of mV. Maybe other ESP8266 have other kinds of reset problems, but for me the only problem was fixing the floating reset.

      • The power consumption of the ESP8266 depends on the PHY mode employed for sending or receiving data. In power critical applications, it is important to balance the average or burst data transfer rate as well as overall power consumption of the system. This test demonstration is intended to demonstrate the results of various power consumption tests on the ESP8266.

      • Connect the TX-pin of the USB-to-Serial converter to the RXD pin of the ESP8266. (On some boards, it's labelled RX instead of RXD, but it's the same pin.) If your ESP8266 board has a DTR pin, connect it to the DTR pin of the USB-to-Serial converter. This enables auto-reset when uploading a sketch, more on that later. Enabling the chip
